Connection is the No. 1 salve for most of the pain, and the hurt, and the trauma that we will experience – Esther Perel
Anxious? Lonely? Uncertain about the future? Absolutely. In these uncertain times even the simplest aspects of our lives have become chaotic. We have no blueprint or guide for how to manage our lives and minds during COVID-19. We can work together to restore equilibrium and create a sense of safety, calm, and control over your life.
What I bring to my work is a sense of warmth, attunement, generosity of spirit, safety, compassion, and skill.
I work with clients to develop the ability to live in and harness the power of the current moment through use of mindfulness and other research-based tools that reduce suffering caused by trauma or a sensitive emotional makeup. Suicidality, substance use and self-harm are merely tools used to numb intense emotional pain; together we can explore and develop your unique and pre-existing tools and collaborate to incorporate new and safe skills through use of Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and other evidenced based practices.
I deliver sexual health education and sex therapy for a diverse array of identities and relationships. I strive to combine research and clinical skill to provide treatment which strengthens and brings healing to a variety of topics related to sexuality including but not limited to: sex-related pain; nonbinary and trans identities; out of control sexual behaviors; low libido and desire discrepancies; sex across the lifespan; orgasm; safety and consent; fetishes and kink; open relationships and polyamory; issues related to LGBTQI+ identities; HIV/AIDS; sexual trauma. I graduated with a certificate in Sex Therapy from the University of Michigan and am a Certified Sex Therapist.
I draw upon a deep history of working with various substance use disorders to tailor my treatment to the individual’s current goals for their drug and alcohol use stressing autonomy, community reintegration and safety. Understanding and healing the root of substance use is fundamental in my treatment and requires a level of bravery which I honor in our work together. I have a specialty in addiction counseling and am a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy treatment designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories and to help you get “unstuck” from patterns of thought and belief.
I am certified as an Acupuncture Detox Specialist, a treatment for substance use, trauma and mood disorders.
Clinical consultation and licensing supervision offered for social work and addiction professionals with an emphasis on skill development and burnout prevention.
